Dr Gordon L. Flett is a world-leading psychologist specialising in the phenomenon of perfectionism and its many costs and consequences. He is Professor of Psychology at York University, Toronto; Director of the LaMarsh Centre for Child and Youth Research; and a Canada Research Chair in Personality and Health.

His research and theory have had a major influence on the understanding and role of perfectionism in psychopathology, with his collaborative work with Dr Paul Hewitt garnering particular attention.

Dr Flett's work has been featured in media outlets such as the BBC, CNN and CTV, and he has received research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. He has published several important books, such as The Psychology of Mattering and Perfectionism: A Relational Approach to Assessment, Treatment, and Conceptualization.

Dr Flett's other areas of research interest include personality predictors of postpartum depression in new mothers and fathers, and suicidality in the elderly.
