Dr Tor Wager is an esteemed psychologist and neuroscientist with a special interest in the neuroscience of pain. His research has led the way in understanding how pain – both physical and emotional – is influenced by both cognitive and social influences.

Dr Wager is the Diana L. Taylor Distinguished Professor in Neuroscience at Dartmouth College. Previously he was Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at University of Colorado Boulder. He is also the Director of the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, a post he has held since 2004.

His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, including Science, Nature and New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr Wager and his research have been featured in mainstream media outlets such as The New York Times, The Economist and the BBC. He has also won numerous awards, including the National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, the MacLean Award from the American Psychosomatic Society and the Faculty Research Award from University of Colorado Boulder.
