Professor Sir Michael Marmot is among the most revered public health experts in the world. He has unrivaled expertise on global health inequalities and inequities and their causes.

Professor Sir Marmot is a Professor of Epidemiology at University College London (UCL), Director of the UCL Institute of Health Equity and Director of the International Institute for Society and Health. He is also an advisor to the World Health Organization and a Past President of the World Medical Organization.

Professor Sir Marmot is the author of books such as The Health Gap: The Challenge of an Unequal World and Status Syndrome: How Your Place on the Social Gradient Directly Affects Your Health. In 2008 he chaired the Review of Health Inequalities in England on behalf of the British Government.

Professor Sir Marmot’s work is frequently referred to in mainstream media, particularly in recent times about the COVID-19 pandemic. He has received many awards and accolades across an illustrious career, including a knighthood for services to epidemiology and understanding health inequalities.
